Vernal AI is a free, open-source project, not a commercial company. We believe in privacy-first AI that puts users in control of their data.

This privacy policy explains how we handle your information when you use our service.

Minimal Data Collection: We collect the absolute minimum necessary to provide our service:

• Account Information: Email address and username (if you create an account)
• Usage Data: Basic analytics to improve the service (anonymous)
• Technical Data: Browser type, device information for compatibility

What We Don't Collect:

• Your chat conversations (stored locally in your browser)
• Personal identification information
• Payment information (service is completely free)
• Location data

Your Data Stays Yours: All chat conversations are stored locally in your browser using localStorage.

This means:

• We never see or have access to your conversations
• Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it
• You have complete control over your chat history
• Data is automatically cleared if you clear browser data

We use Supabase for:

• User authentication (email/password)
• Basic account management
• Service reliability and uptime

Supabase provides robust security and GDPR compliance. They only store:

• Your email address (for login)
• Encrypted password (hashed and salted)
• Account creation date

When you use AI features:

• Queries are sent to our AI providers (including DeepSeek) to generate responses
• These providers may temporarily process your queries but don't store them long-term
• We use privacy-focused AI models that respect user data
• No personal data is included in AI queries unless you explicitly provide it

We implement security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
• Secure password hashing
• Regular security updates
• Limited data retention

You have the right to:

• Access any data we have about you
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Export your locally stored chat data
• Opt-out of any data collection

To exercise these rights, contact us or simply delete your account from settings.

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date.
